eVisa Questions
What is a Malaysia eVisa?▼
A Malaysia eVisa is an electronic travel authorization that allows foreign nationals to visit Malaysia without a physical visa stamp. It's a digital approval document sent via email that you present at immigration upon arrival. The eVisa is valid for a 6-month period from the date of approval.
How much does a Malaysia eVisa cost?▼
Malaysia eVisa costs depend on processing speed:
Regular Processing: $110 USD (4-6 working days) Express Processing: $175 USD (2-3 working days)
Both include a single entry to Malaysia and are valid for 6 months from approval date. All prices are in USD and include all fees - no hidden charges.
What are the different visa types available?▼
Malaysia offers 7 eVisa types:
1. Tourist Visa ($110-$175) - For leisure and sightseeing (90 days) 2. Business Visa ($110-$175) - For business meetings and conferences (30 days) 3. Employment Visa ($110-$175) - For work authorization (90 days) 4. Student Visa ($110-$175) - For full-time education (90 days) 5. Medical Visa ($110-$175) - For medical treatment (30 days) 6. Official Visa ($110-$175) - For government officials (30 days) 7. Dependent Visa ($110-$175) - For family members (90 days)
All eVisa types are available at the same price with regular or express processing options.
How long does eVisa processing take?▼
Processing times are:
Regular Processing: 4-6 working days (Monday-Friday, excluding public holidays) Express Processing: 2-3 working days (Monday-Friday, excluding public holidays)
Please note that processing times are calculated from the date of payment and document submission. Peak travel seasons may experience slightly longer processing times. You'll receive email updates at each stage of your application.
When should I apply for my eVisa?▼
We recommend applying 2-3 weeks before your intended travel date for regular processing, or 1 week before for express processing. This provides a buffer in case additional documents are requested. However, you can apply at any time, and your eVisa is valid for 6 months from the date of approval, so you can apply well in advance of your trip.
What documents do I need for eVisa?▼
Minimum required documents:
1. Passport bio data page - Clear scan of the page with your photo and information 2. Face photograph - Recent passport-style photo (4x6 cm, white background) 3. Birth certificate (minors only) - For children under 18 with English translation if needed
Optional documents (if available):
• Return flight booking - Booking confirmation for your return flight • Hotel booking - Accommodation confirmation for your stay
All documents should be clear, readable, and in acceptable formats (JPG, PNG, PDF - max 5MB each).
Can I change my visa type after applying?▼
Visa type changes can only be made BEFORE your application is submitted to immigration. Once submitted, the visa type cannot be changed. If you need to change your visa type, you have two options:
1. Cancel your current application (subject to $50 cancellation fee) and reapply with the correct visa type 2. Contact our support team at visa@malaysiavisa.my to discuss your specific situation
We recommend carefully selecting your visa type before proceeding with payment.
What is the validity period of an eVisa?▼
A Malaysia eVisa is valid for 6 months from the date of approval. This means you must enter Malaysia within 6 months of receiving your eVisa approval. Once you enter Malaysia, you are permitted to stay for the duration specified in your visa type:
• Tourist, Employment, Dependent, Student visas: 90 days • Business, Official, Medical visas: 30 days
If you need to stay longer, you must apply for a different visa type or extension through Malaysian immigration upon arrival.
Is my eVisa for multiple entries?▼
No, the eVisa we offer is for single entry only. This means you can enter Malaysia once during the validity period. If you leave Malaysia and want to return, you'll need to apply for a new eVisa. Multiple-entry visas are handled separately through Malaysian immigration authorities and are not available through our standard eVisa application.
MDAC Questions
What is Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)?▼
The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is an electronic travel declaration system that allows eligible visitors to enter Malaysia without applying for a traditional visa. It's a modern, digital alternative for approved nationalities. Simply fill out your information online, pay $39, and receive instant approval via email. No documents to upload, no complicated paperwork.
How much does MDAC cost?▼
Malaysia Digital Arrival Card costs exactly $39 USD per person. This is a one-time, non-refundable payment that includes:
• Instant processing and approval • Digital arrival card valid for 30 days • Single entry to Malaysia • No hidden fees or additional charges
The $39 price is fixed and transparent - there are no other costs associated with MDAC.
Who is eligible for MDAC?▼
MDAC is available to citizens of eligible countries only. Eligibility depends on bilateral agreements between Malaysia and your country of citizenship. Common eligible nationalities include citizens from most Western countries, ASEAN members, and other nations, but eligibility varies.
To check if you're eligible:
1. Visit the MDAC application page 2. Select your nationality during the application 3. The system will confirm your eligibility
If you're not eligible for MDAC, you can apply for an eVisa instead ($110-$175).
How fast is MDAC approval?▼
MDAC processing is very fast. After you complete your application and payment:
• You receive instant approval confirmation • Your digital arrival card is issued via email • You can use it immediately for travel
There is no waiting period. You can receive your MDAC within minutes of completing payment, making it perfect for spontaneous travel or last-minute trips.
Do I need documents for MDAC?▼
No documents required! This is one of the biggest advantages of MDAC. You don't need to upload:
• Passport scans • Photos • Flight tickets • Hotel bookings • Any other supporting documents
You simply provide your personal information (name, date of birth, passport number, contact details, and travel dates) through our online form. That's it! No complicated paperwork or document uploads.
How long is MDAC valid for?▼
Malaysia Digital Arrival Card is valid for 30 days from your date of entry into Malaysia. This is a single-entry card, so if you leave Malaysia and want to return, you'll need to apply for a new MDAC or get an eVisa instead.
Your MDAC approval is valid for 30 days after issuance, so you must enter Malaysia within 30 days of receiving your approval.
Can I get a refund if my MDAC is rejected?▼
No. The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card is 100% NON-REFUNDABLE under ANY circumstances, including:
• If your application is rejected • If you change your travel plans • If you decide not to travel • For any other reason
Once payment is processed, the $39 fee cannot be refunded. If your MDAC is rejected, you may apply for an eVisa instead, but you'll need to pay the eVisa fees separately ($110-$175).
Should I apply for MDAC or eVisa?▼
Choose MDAC if:
• You're a citizen of an eligible country • You want instant approval • You don't want to upload documents • You're staying 30 days or less • You want the cheapest option ($39) • You like simplicity
Choose eVisa if:
• You're not eligible for MDAC • You need 6 months validity • You want 90-day stay options (certain visa types) • You need longer processing flexibility • You're from a non-eligible country
Check your eligibility during the application process.
